Andrew Piel

Andrew Piel is a native of Arlington and Tarrant County and obtained his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. Andrew began his legal career in 1997 as a Prosecutor in the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, where he gained extensive jury trial experience. He then transitioned into civil litigation practice in 1999. Since then, Andrew has handled a variety of complex litigation matters in the areas of construction law, lien law, contract law, real estate law, aviation, collections, and products liability. In addition, Andrew teaches classes on construction law topics such as contracts, liens, and bond claims for Lorman Educational Services and TEXO/AGC, and has been trained as a mediator by the American Arbitration Association. 

Andrew has extensive experience in counseling businesses on legal questions related to their day-to-day operations and contractual relationships. Nothing provides Andrew more satisfaction than counselling his clients on the legal aspects of the opportunities and challenges facing them, guiding them through transitions, fighting like all get-out for them when necessary, and ultimately seeing his clients succeed, thrive, and grow.  He has been recognized by his legal peers as a Texas Superlawyer by Thomson Reuters in 2019, 2020, and 2021, a Texas Lawyer Rising Star by Thomson Reuters in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, and as a “Top Lawyer” by Fort Worth, Texas magazine in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Andrew is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Construction Law Section of the Texas Bar Association, the Tarrant County Bar Association and is the former Chair of the Construction Law Section of the Tarrant County Bar Association. Andrew represents District 4 on the Arlington City Council, chairs the City's Economic Development Committee, is Vice-President of the North Texas Council of Governments Executive Committee, serves on the Executive Board of Associated Builders and Contractors of Texas, is a former member of Arlington's Planning & Zoning Commission, a member of the Government Relations Committees of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce and TEXO/AGC, a former Vice-President of the Arlington Education Foundation, and a former member of the Board of Directors for the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. Andrew has attended First United Methodist Church of Arlington for over 20 years where he is a member and former President of the Seekers Sunday School Class. He is also active in Tarrant County political affairs.

When not working, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife, Anna, also an attorney, his two children, and three dogs, and reading and listening to history books, especially in the subject area of military history.
